Activity Details

Tiananmen Square was first built in 1417. It is the world's largest city-center square. The square covers an area of 440,000 square meters which is about the size of 60 soccer fields. Now the age-old Tiananmen, as a witness of the past and present of China's civilization, with its unrivaled political significance, is No.1 highlight in Beijing.

Chairman Mao Memorial Hall was built in just six months by the Chinese people in a show of dedication to their deceased leader (in defiance of his wish to be cremated), the Memorial Hall contains the embalmed body of Chairman Mao in a crystal coffin which is raised and lowered from an underground freezer every day. (close on Monday)

Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace during the mid-Ming and the Qing Dynasties. It is listed by UNESCO as the largest collection of preserved ancient wooden structures in the world. Today it is open to public as the Palace Museum. (close on Monday)

Jinshan Park (also known as Coal Hill) is a beautiful royal garden. It stands on the central point of the south-north axis of the city and faces the north exit of the Forbidden City. The summit of the hill is the highest point in the old town Beijing. Looking from the top, the visitor is able to get a full and clear view of the Forbidden City.
Itinerary
Meet your professional guide at your hotel in Beijing and take a private comfortable vehicle to Tiananmen Square.

Set out with your guide to discover the iconic imperial treasures of Beijing. Stand in Tiananmen Square, one of the largest public squares in the world, before moving on to Chairman Mao Memorial Hall. Then we will enter through the imposing walls of the palace complex, once the domain of Ming and Qing Dynasty, for an exclusive tour of its courtyard and lanes. This area was considered by the emperor to be a divine place, and as such entry was exclusive to the imperial family and their court, hence the name, the Forbidden City. On this tour you will also have the chance to visit the Hall of Treasure or the Hall of Clock and Watches. Most of groups don’t go there but we do.

At noon time enjoy the old Beijing Noodles with Soy Bean Paste, Old Beijing dumplings and other Beijing traditional food in a local family.

In the afternoon you’ll explore the hutongs of Beijing on the backs of rickshaws, a traditional mode of transport in Beijing. These rapidly disappearing traditional neighborhoods offer a glimpse into the Beijing of the past.

Later today we will pay a visit to Jinshan Park. From the hilltop, visitors can have a bird’s-eye view of the city.

Your tour ends at around 5:30 pm with a drop-off at your hotel or other downtown area of your choice.
