As one of the most flourishing commercial streets, this street had earned great reputation around the whole country during the period of Qin, West Han and Three Kingdoms.
Sichuan hotpot It dates back to the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) when it was first created in a small town along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Local boatmen cooked a kind of spicy soup with vegetable, meat and hot peppers to help them in the humid, cold weather. Over hundreds of years, hotpot evolved to become a major Sichuan cuisine.
Sichuan Opera It is more like a burlesque cabaret than an actual opera, sometimes including magicians, traditional musicians, shadow plays, comedy (spoken in Chinese though), and dancers besides the traditional pieces. Of course the most famous is never omitted: quick face-changing and fire spitting performed by dancers clad in colorful traditional costumes.
Itinerary
In the morning, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional tour guide to start a wonderful tour in Chengdu.
To get a better understanding of Chengdu, your first stop is The Giant Panda Research Base. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83.
Followed by the visit to Wenshu Monastery. Wenshu Temple has been authorized as a National Key Buddhist Temple in Han Chinese Area by the State Council of China in 1983.
Next we will visit West Pearl Tower. It stands tall over the offices and high-rises between it and the heart of the city. The building features attractions from a revolving restaurant to a collection of calligraphy, photography, or art exhibitions in the indoor sightseeing hall.
Afterwards take a walk at People’s Park, it is the largest green area in downtown Chengdu. The park features an artificial lake, several gardens, the Railway Protection Movement Monument, and the century-old Heming Teahouse, a local landmark.
Afterward, visit the Jinli Stereet. In 2006, Jinli was named as “National Demonstration Base Of The Cultural Industry” by the Ministry of Culture. There are approximately 18,000,000 visitors a year.Especially in Spring Festival, more people come to visit "Big Temple Fair".
We will have Sichuan hotpot as our dinner. The experience of sitting around a boiling pot of chili-filled or Not spicy soup, while cooking your meat and vegetables, is just as impressive as the taste. Also hot pot has the power to enhance friendship and unite family members or colleagues. Several people sit around a pot, talking and eating.
It’s your option to watch Sichuan Opera at your own expense. Sichuan opera is more like a play than other forms of Chinese opera, and the acting is highly polished. Bian Lian is an ancient Chinese dramatic art that is part of the more general Sichuan opera. They wear vividly colored masks, which they change from one face to another almost instantaneously with the swipe of a fan, a movement of the head, or wave of the hand.
